But then you gotta have at least 2 feet of space on each side, so it’s still a lot of room.

• Clear floor lifts: 4 meters (that’s like 13 feet) ceiling height

And if you’re gettin’ one of them clear floor lifts, the ones where there’s nothin’ on the floor between the posts, well, you’re gonna need even more room. And for the four-post lifts, the ones with four posts holdin’ up the car, you need at least 2.5 meters, which is about 8 feet. But like I said before, 12 to 14 feet is better if you don’t want to feel like you’re workin’ in a sardine can.

Another thing to think about is how tall your car is. If you got a low-ridin’ sports car, you might not need as much height as someone with a big ol’ truck.
