Exchange rates and all that, makes my head spin. Some fancy ones, they say, can go up to 4,000 or even 6,000 dollars. Guess it depends on how fancy you wanna get. Me? I’d be happy with a rope and a bucket, but these city folk, they like their comforts.

• Straight Stair Lifts: These are for stairs that go straight up, no curves or turns. Cheaper than them fancy curved ones, I hear.
• Curved Stair Lifts: Now, these are for stairs that go ’round and ’round, like a corkscrew. Gonna cost ya more, seein’ as they gotta be custom-made, I reckon. Someone told me they average about 4,985, something called “pounds” this time. Lordy, all these different moneys!
• Outdoor Stair Lifts: And if you got stairs outside, well, they got lifts for that too! Fancy, ain’t it? About 3 pounds, or maybe it was dollars. Can’t rightly remember.

The thing is, these stair lift fellas, they got all sorts of models and options. You gotta talk to ’em, see what fits your house and your pocketbook. Don’t let ’em pull a fast one on ya, though. Get a few different prices, haggle a bit. That’s what my old pappy used to say, “Never pay the first price they ask.” Good advice, that.

And safety, that’s important too. You don’t want no rickety contraption carryin’ you up them stairs. Gotta make sure it’s sturdy and reliable.
