Indian Lift and Carry: Quick, Safe, and Affordable Moving

News 12/18/2024

Alright, let’s talk about this “Indian lift and carry” thing. I ain’t no expert, but I’ve seen things, you know? And I’ve heard some folks talkin’. So, lemme tell ya what I know, the way I know how.

First off, seems like it’s got somethin’ to do with carryin’ folks. Big folks, small folks, all sorts. I heard tell it ain’t just pickin’ someone up and luggin’ ’em around. It’s a whole…thing. A movement, like they say. Kinda like how we used to carry water from the well, not just sloshin’ it around, but movin’ with it, y’know?

Now, I seen pictures, little ones on that…what do you call it? The ‘interweb’? Yeah, that thing. Anyways, I seen pictures of these gals, strong lookin’ gals, liftin’ up other folks. Sometimes it’s like a piggyback, you know, up on the back. Other times, it’s like they’re holdin’ ’em in front, like a baby, but bigger. They call it a “cradle carry” I think.

  • They got these groups, seems like lots of folks are into it.
  • Lots of talk about “strong girls”. Well, I guess you gotta be strong to lift someone up, huh?
  • I heard someone say it’s a mix of “strength and tradition”. Tradition? Humph, maybe. Back in my day, we just carried what we had to carry, no fancy names for it.

I read somewhere, someone said a gal, barely five foot tall, lifted up someone almost six foot! Imagine that! Six foot! That’s taller than my old man was, and he was a big fella. This gal, she just lifted him right up, like he was nothin’ but a sack of potatoes. And she was standin’ there, comfortable as you please, inside a room, no less! The fella she lifted, he looked plumb surprised, like he couldn’t believe it neither. Made me chuckle, that did.

Now, I don’t know why they do it, this “Indian lift and carry”. Maybe it’s for fun, maybe it’s for show. Maybe it’s just ‘cause they can. Folks do all sorts of strange things these days, things we never even dreamed of back when I was young. But hey, as long as they ain’t hurtin’ nobody, I reckon it’s their business.

Some folks get all riled up about it, sayin’ it’s dangerous or silly or whatever. But I say, let ‘em be. They ain’t botherin’ you, are they? And if them gals wanna show off how strong they are, well, good for them, I say. We need more strong gals in this world, that’s for sure.

This whole thing, it reminds me a bit of how we used to do things on the farm. Had to lift heavy stuff all the time, hay bales, sacks of feed, even folks sometimes when they got hurt or sick. We didn’t call it fancy names, we just did what we had to do. But I guess times change, and folks find new ways to do things, and new names to call ‘em.

It seems like this “Indian lift and carry” is gettin’ popular though. Lots of people talkin’ about it, lookin’ at pictures and videos. There’s groups you can join, if you’re into that sort of thing. I even saw one group with thousands of members! Thousands! Can you believe it? All them folks, interested in liftin’ and carryin’ other folks. It just goes to show, there’s somethin’ for everyone in this world, I guess.

And it ain’t just about the liftin’, I don’t think. It’s about the carryin’ too. It’s about the whole thing, you know? The way they move, the way they hold themselves. It’s kinda graceful, in a way. Like a dance, almost. A strong, powerful dance.

So yeah, that’s what I know about this “Indian lift and carry”. Not much, maybe, but enough to get the gist of it. It’s about strong gals, liftin’ folks, movin’ with ’em. It’s a tradition for some, a show for others, and a way for folks to be strong and powerful, maybe. And hey, if it makes ’em happy, and they ain’t hurtin’ nobody, then more power to ’em, I say. More power to ’em.
